Ahh…summer holidays are approaching and for most people it is a period to look forward to. Travel and holidays whether at home or abroad, sitting by the pool in the sun or sightseeing in cities or hiking in the mountains is what most of us in the UK aspire to.
It is often a time to enjoy trips with friends and family, have a glass or more of the local vino or tipple, enjoy the local cuisine and relax. Everyone enjoys their version of their holidays.
We always look forward to the destination but we never reflect or focus on how we got there. Long hours at work, stress, poor diet and in some cases a lack of exercise as we try to save those precious pennies to pay for the 1-2 week summer holiday. We all know how stressful airports and flying can be – taxis/buses to the airport, passport control queues etc etc.

Yet, we still focus on the end product – the holiday. All the extra work for those precious periods of enjoyment. Interesting how we don’t apply this logic to our health. Our health journey is the same, we need to invest in check ups, gut testing, nutritional input, reducing stress levels so that we can optimise our health. Why ? I hear you ask…
Enjoying the fruits of our life’s work – enjoying grandchildren, foreign travels, family and friends. Who wants to work all our life for a few weeks holiday and then during the autumn of our lives, we spend all our free time dealing with health issues, blood tests, investigations.
As with all things in life, you get out what you put in. It is never too late to start looking after yourself.
